Filler Corrections & Reversal

Many patients come to Rejuvent seeking help to correct fillers injected at other offices. Making adjustments to misplaced fillers requires expertise in facial analysis, and knowledge of facial anatomy. Possible treatments include strategic injection of additional filler to balance the area, or precisely injecting the enzyme Vitrase, which is used to dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers that have been placed incorrectly, unevenly or in excess.

You do not need to live with filler that you are unhappy with!

What to Expect During Filler Correction at Rejuvent?

It is important for patients to realize that correcting misplaced, or over injected filler from other offices is more complicated than performing a Liquid Face Lift. Sometimes several injections of Vitrase are required over several weeks. Vitrase works within 3 days, a second injection is administered 1 week later if necessary. Often placement of additional filler in the correct tissue plane and location is required to complete the correction and give the patient the improvement they were initially seeking.

Lip Filler Correction with

Correcting Too Much Filler on Lips

This patient felt her lips were slightly too big after an injection received elsewhere.

The lower lip had a slight sausage appearance from too much filler at the lateral aspects and protruded slightly too much. The upper lip was also full laterally. Vitrase was precisely injected to dissolve the excess filler, leading to more naturally shaped, yet still full lips. The patient was very pleased with the results.

Another doctor ruined my lips!

“I came to Dr. Bomer and she injected filler on my lips, it looked beautiful and I had the lips I always wished for. Then I decided to same money and went someplace else. The results were disastrous. My lips were lumpy, uneven and I was miserable. I called Rejuvent and asked if there was anything that could be done. Dr. Bomer was able to remove the filler placed at the other doctor’s office and after she injected filler my lips were again beautiful That was a very expensive lesson for me and I will not let another doctor touch my lips again.”

Frequently asked questions related to Filler Correction at Rejuvent.

What is Filler Correction & Reversal?

Sometimes filler is incorrectly placed or metabolized differently than expected.  Filler correction is the procedure to correct such issues.

Can All Fillers Be Reversed?

No. Only Hyaluronic Acid based fillers can be dissolved.

Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers that can be corrected or reversed are:

  • Juvéderm Ultra and Ultra Plus
  • Voluma
  • Restylane
  • Restylane Lyft (Perlane)
  • Restylane Silk
  • Belotero

At Rejuvent, our doctors do not use permanent fillers due to their unpredictability. Those fillers such as Sculptra and Artefill are irreversible and can migrate after a certain time, which often cause new issues.

What is Used for Filler Reversal?

At Rejuvent, our facial plastic surgeons use Vitrase which contains an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This enzyme dissolves the Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler.

Often, removing filler is a much harder procedure than injecting it. This must only be performed by an expert physician with the skills and experience in using Vitrase or other hyaluronidase based product.

Is Filler Correction & Reversal Painful?

At Rejuvent, Vitrase is mixed with lidocaine by the physician, so it is a fairly comfortable procedure.

How long before I see my Filler Correction results?

It takes at least 24 hours and up to 3 days to see results achieved by Vitrase.

How Can I Avoid Needing Filler Correction?

The most important factor in protecting your face is choosing an expert to perform your filler injection.

It is a fact that anyone can receive a quick course and start injecting with dermal fillers and Botox. But keep in mind that these providers do not understand how intricate the anatomy of the face is and how the nerves, veins, muscles and fat pads relate to each other. Even an experienced nurse does not know facial anatomy.

Choosing a facial plastic surgeon, experienced in facial surgery is the most important step in your filler experience.
