What is PRP?
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. Whole blood contains red blood cells, white blood cells, and non-cellular platelets. PRP is plasma that has been processed to remove the red blood cells and concentrate the platelets and the plasma containing growth factors. There is growing evidence that PRP can heal, regenerate, and revitalize dormant hair follicles.
What is a PRP Treatment?
PRP for Hair Loss Treatment (also known as PRP Hair Restoration Treatment) is a treatment that harvests your own growth factors and applies them to your scalp to boost hair growth. Growth factors are proteins naturally present in our bodies. These proteins bind to the cells and promote cell regeneration and tissue repair. Growth factors can stimulate your skin and can help recharge your hair growth.
Growth factors are NOT growth hormones. Growth factors are found in your blood’s platelets.
What are platelets?
Platelets are elements in the blood that help tissue to heal and grow new cells. Many many growth factors are present in Platelet Rich Plasma. The PRP promotes your own collagen to grow, regenerates tissue, help to heal, tissue repair, and hair growth.
Who is a good candidate for PRP for Hair Loss Treatment

How many PRP for Hair Loss Treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed depends on each individual patient, the patient’s desired results, and individual treatment plan. We usually recommended a series of three treatments performed 6 weeks apart for best results. Followed by a few yearly maintenance treatments as needed.
How is the treatment performed?
At Rejuvent, our nurse will draw your blood and add it to a centrifuge machine that uses centrifugal force to separate the red blood cells and platelet-poor plasma from platelet-rich plasma. The concentration of platelet-rich plasma is separated and prepared for injection.
To minimize pain a topical numbing cream will be applied. The nurse will administer small injections using a very fine needle to deliver the highly-concentrated platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into the scalp in the areas that are thinning or starting to thin. To maximize the regenerative effects of the PRP treatment, the injections are administered in a specific pattern.
The procedure is performed in less than an hour and most patients experience only minor discomfort. You will be able to drive yourself home and resume normal activities immediately after treatment.
Is the PRP Treatment painful?
At Rejuvent, your comfort is important. Our nurse Linda Esposito will take all steps to ensure your comfort during the procedure. Most patients report minor, temporary discomfort.
Is there downtime with this treatment?
There is no downtime. You might experience soreness, mild puffiness, and redness for a few days. You may take an over the counter pain relievers such as Tylenol, Motrin or Aleve to alleviate discomfort.
How long until I see results from my treatment?
Patients have reported that in a couple of months they started noticing new hair growth. Keep in mind that every patient is different, at Rejuvent we document your progress with photos and you will be able to see your progress.
