FAQ – Skin Care Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to stop using any products prior to in-office procedures?

Retinol and Glycolic products should be stopped for 1 week prior to any facial waxing, and stopped 2 days prior to any type of Chemical Peel, Microdermabrasion or Laser treatment.

Why should my face be dry before applying retinol?

Skin that is wet, damp, or even moist absorbs skin care products more quickly, which may cause unnecessary irritation, redness or peeling.

What is Melamix and why should it be mixed with retinol?

Melamix is a 4% hydroquinone cream. Hydroquinone is an effective skin-lightening agent for treatment of sun-induced pigmentation, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, melasma and other forms of hyperpigmentation often associated with aging skin. When mixed with retinol, the ingredients penetrate the skin deeper to reach and lift up the deep pigmentation. Great products to implement in your PM skin care regimen.

What are Growth Factors?

Growth factors speed cell turnover, increase skin thickness, and restore luminosity when applied topically to aging skin. Growth factors can stimulate stem cells to damaged areas to reproduce and provide the necessary boost to repair the damaged cells which results in new tissue and a decrease in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Why do I need SPF every day?

Sun damage is the top factor of premature signs of skin aging, causing wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, and can lead to a repressed immune system and the potential for skin cancer. Even if exposure is limited, cumulative sun exposure is enough to cause the signs of skin aging. SPF is a MUST in your daily skin care program – even on cloudy days.

Do I need to use a specific cream for the eye area?

The skin around the eye area is the thinnest and the most sensitive skin on your whole body. Eye creams are formulated specifically to be gentle to this area, and often come with ingredients that target eye-specific concerns like fine lines and wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles. Often more than one eye cream is beneficial.

Is there a cream specific for the neck area?

Nectifirm is specifically formulated to for the neck area, it address all the changes that occur as the skin on your neck ages. A specialized neck cream is necessary because the neck ages differently from the face and requires its own unique, topical anti-aging technology.

“I think my before and after pictures say it all! While the results, when just looking at my face, are subtle; the results when comparing the before and after are dramatic! I think I look ten years younger. I highly recommend Dr. Bomer, and Rejuvent. And, I will consider no one else for any future products and/or procedures I may need in the future. I love the daily skin care products I have begun using per Dr. Bomer’s recommendation. Thank you.” – John, Scottsdale
