Eyelid Surgery
One of the first areas of the face to show signs of aging is around the eyes. Loss of collagen and elastin in the thin eyelid skin from age and sun damage leads to crepe like skin and fine wrinkles. Crow's feet at the corners of the eyes. Thinning of the muscle and fascia in the lower lid leads to gradual bulging of orbital fat leading to lower lid ete bags. Eye brow descent and laxity of upper lid skin leads to drooping upper lids. Early aging can be reversed with Botox, medical grade skin care and FotoFacial treatments. In some cases hollowing can be reversed with precise filler placement. More advanced aging requires surgery. If a drooping brow is causing sagging upper eye lids an endoscopic brow lift is often helpful. Surgery for the eye lid itself may involve simply trimming of excess skin in the upper and/or lower lids. If herniating fat is causing bulging of the upper or lower lids its removal restores a more youthful and refreshed appearance to the eyes. Dr. Bomer uses a scarless technique for removing fat from the lower eye lid by making the incision on the inner surface of the eye lid. This results in less scar tissue of the lower eye lid, preventing downward retraction and a rounded appearance of the eye that can otherwise occur with older techniques for removing lower lid fat.
